Going to the zoo!

Yay! We're going to the zoo! This will be my first visit to Zoo Atlanta. Steve and I think it appropriate to become acquainted with it, as we will probably be going there more often once the Little One arrives.
This is my first blog and I really have no idea what I am doing. :) So, I will stop writing for now, put on warmer clothes and head out to the wilds of Atlanta. I will write more later describing what we uncover at the zoo!
Later skaters!

We'll we're back! We got half off our admission fee since it was a bit chilly this morning! Sweet! Their loss - only 1 animal was off duty: the giraffe. We saw just about everything else tho! I was most impressed with the elephants. They were pretty active and really are fascinating animals. We learned that their gestation period is about 22 months and that the newborns can weigh from 200 to 300 pounds! Puts my 9-month pregnancy and 8-lb baby fears into perspective! :)
The otters and meerkats were probably the cutest animals there. The 'roos were cool and we got to see some bouncing around. I was kind of disappointed in the reptile room as it was very outdated and in need of some serious repair. Steve commented on the fact that there were no animals on display from the Americas, aside from a handful of reptiles. Very interesting. Overall, I would say that this was a very good Atlanta excursion. (If you don't mind pushy parents shoving their way in front of you, that is.) I will try to post some of the picures we took, but if I can't figure out how to do that, you can check out http://gallery.mac.com/sweettupelo
Enjoy!
